Friday 27 September 2024 Year 5 visit Kew Gardens Although the weather at times was inclement, we still had a wonderful time exploring the beauty of Kew Gardens in London. Thank you to all of the parents for enabling this to happen. Educational visits are so memorable for years and years to come.As you all know, we are learning about the Amazon Rainforest and the children were commended on their knowledge which was brilliant to see! We visited the Glass House which simulated a mini rainforest which was full to the brim of amazingly special plants. We saw a Kapok Tree, tropical plants, banana and cacao trees, coffee plants and much much more. We also explored the Hive and the Princess of Wales Conservatory. In English, the children are reading 'Journey to the River Sea' and some of the new vocabulary came to life today especially the giant lily pads. Monday 9 September 2024 Griffin Library opens at Beaumont! The day has finally come! Our new library - The Griffin Library - has officially opened. We were very lucky that Mrs Shelley Davies, who is the Director of Croydon Education, opened up this new space in our school. The children, who raised the most money as well as read the most, accompanied our visitor along with some members of our board of governors. Mrs Ashton also came and represented FOBS who very kindly donated money towards the new library.Throughout the morning, each class came to visit and spend some time looking at books. I have attached some photos for you all to enjoy. Hopefully, the children will come home talking about how wonderful this library is.A final huge thank you to you all - including the children - for your wonderful donations and time. We are all thrilled with it and can't wait for the children to use it every week.Every parent will have the opportunity to visit Griffin Library after each class curriculum meeting. Wednesday 17 July 2024 Y2 Trip to the Tate Modern What a fantastic day we had! We really enjoyed our trip to Tate Modern, many children saying they had never been to an art gallery before. They were amazed at the scale of the building and seemed to really appreciate the art on show. I had many interesting conversations with the children in my group and the other adults reported similar reactions in their groups! We have so many fantastic photos across two iPads that there will be a few posts coming up, I am afraid, as I can only post 10 pictures at the time! A big thank you to Aalia’s mum who came to help on the trip!
