Safeguarding
At Beaumont Primary School we strive to make sure all our pupils are safe in school, at home, online and in the community. Our staff are here to keep young people safe and secure and to promote their personal safety and well-being.
Our commitment to safeguarding encompasses ways which we ensure children and young people foster security, confidence and independence. The School has a duty of care and the right to take reasonable action to ensure the welfare and safety of its pupils. If a member of staff has cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or any other form of abuse, the School will follow child protection procedures and inform Children’s Services of its concern.
A clear policy on Safeguarding is available below and is reviewed by staff and the Local Advisory Board regularly.
There are designated lead staff who monitor the effectiveness of the policy and, where necessary, liaise with the local authority when significant safeguarding concerns arise:
Our Safeguarding Team
- Mrs Anne Morrell (Headteacher) is the named Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Mr Chris Hatton, Mrs Kati Cock and Mrs Catherine Donohue are the Deputy Safeguarding Leads
- Mrs Catherine Donohue is the School SENDCO and is responsible for Inclusion
- Mr Gordon Smith is the nominated governor responsible for Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment and Online Safety
Designated Safeguarding Leads
- All safeguarding concerns are reported using CPOMS and directly to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is a senior member of the school’s leadership team who is designated to take lead responsibility for dealing with safeguarding issues.
- The role of the DSL for Child Protection is to take responsibility for dealing with child protection issues, provide advice and support to other staff, liaising with the local authority and working with other agencies to ensure all children at our school are safe.
- If you have any safeguarding concerns regarding children, please see one of our DSLs immediately.
- You can telephone the school and speak to the office staff. It is important you explain when telephoning that the nature of your call is a serious safeguarding concern but please do not disclose details to our office staff.
Safeguarding Concerns
If you have any concerns regarding the safety of a child, please contact school on 020 8660 7707. During out of school hours including holidays and weekends, please email: headteacher@beaumont.croydon.sch.uk. We will endeavour to reply as soon as possible. The Safeguarding Leader on duty will always monitor and respond to emails over the holiday period from parents as well as professionals regarding safeguarding issues.
At Beaumont Primary School we are committed to supporting all of our children to do well. We will do everything we can to ensure our children are safeguarded and protected from harm.
If you are you worried about a child?
- If you have concerns that a child is being harmed or living in circumstances that might be harmful in the future, these concerns will always be taken seriously.
- You may be worried about what might happen to you or your family if you report your concerns. When someone makes a call to talk about their concerns, they will always be asked for their name and contact details - so they can be contacted again if needed. However, you can ask for your details to remain confidential, or provide information anonymously.
