Our aim is for all of our pupils to think mathematically, enabling them to reason, solve problems and assess risk in a range of contexts. At Beaumont Primary School, our Mathematics Mastery curriculum has been developed to ensure every child can achieve excellence in mathematics. Children can experience a sense of awe and wonder as they solve a problem for the first time, discover different solutions and make links between different areas of mathematics. It provides pupils with a deep understanding of the subject through a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach. This ensures that all of our pupils can fully access and understand what they are learning.

In line with the national curriculum, the history curriculum at Beaumont aims to help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It strives to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past and equip them to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. It should help pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups. It also should help children gain a sense of their own identity within a social, political, cultural and economic background. Our own school site’s rich and interesting past is a celebrated and inspiring feature of the history curriculum at Beaumont. We draw from and make full use of the immediate and wider local area, enabling children to develop a deep understanding of the history of their locality.× -

To achieve this, we provide carefully sequenced lessons which feature meaningful fieldwork and introduce a progression of geography concepts that enable pupils to build up a breadth and depth of geographical knowledge, understanding and skills so that ultimately, they can ask and answer geographical questions such as ‘why is this place like this?’, ‘how is this place changing?’ and ‘how are other places affected?’

To achieve this, we deliver a broad and balanced music curriculum, with regular opportunities for children to sing, play a variety of instruments, compose, improvise and to listen, so that they appreciate a diverse range of musical genres and cultures.
